The ‘I Choose Me’ project is a photos series created by the amazingly talented Bruna Lacerda, who I have had the pleasure of shooting with a few times for this beautiful project over the last few years. It’s a variety of women of all ethnicities and sizes in different aspects, with one common mission to spread confidence. It was so wonderful to see so many women come together to empower one another.
The opening night was on the 2nd and the exhibition runs through the end of the month, so if you are in the greater NYC area I strongly encourage you to come out and see all the beautiful captures of the project. Photographs will be for sale with a portion of the proceeds going to benefit the Suicide Hot Line.
Fashion to Figure sponsored the event and all the ladies are dressed in gorgeous FTF outfits! Location and details are on the flyer below, hope you enjoy the gallery!
“For the longest time, my opinion of my body was shaped by what others thought of me. Growing up with no women bigger than a size two visible in the media, I was programmed to feel ashamed of myself, as if someone my size wasn’t deserving of success. It wasn’t until I was much older that I was able to separate my thoughts against what society was trying to make me believe and started to chase what I wanted. Every individual is their own kind of beautiful and life is too short to let anyone’s opinion stand in the way of your happiness.”
